A Mobile Market

I recently listened to a discussion about the “tyranny of geography” on NPR. The argument is that certain regions of the world are held hostage by unfriendly (or downright unforgiving) geographical features.

A different physical tyranny has limited information for centuries. Each time a new medium (paper, printing, broadcasting) emerges, information becomes more free to flow. While there may be initial resistance—printing presses were seen by kings as powerful tools of sedition and revolt!—communication tends to win out.

Today, mobile devices are allowing people to access the internet via their cell phone or smart phone. Over half of mobile device owners are doing it! This means your customers are accessing information about your company both at their PCs—and while out and about. And social media only adds to the disruption.

Then: Customers looked up information provided by you while at work or at home.

Now: Customers can look up information provided by you—and their social circle—while on the go.

Do you know what customers are saying about you on Facebook? Can your customers find you when they’re out in the world, hungry or bored, or looking for a new suit or car?

Leverage the mobile internet to ensure your company doesn’t get left behind!
