After Graduation
Welcome to the season of graduation and the wrap-up of another school year. Remember that whirlwind of the final days of classes, exams, papers, and celebrations? How great is that feeling of accomplishment when you walk across the stage and receive that diploma? I’m done! I finished! I graduated!
One of the things we learned, after graduation, is that we are never really “done” learning. The need to be prepared for what’s next will not go away. The world requires us to keep up and try to be prepared for the changes yet to come.
Taking the Next Step
Spring is a good time to consider how to commence your learning. What type of information would be helpful for you to know more about? What skills would you like to develop or practice? Professional associations need volunteers, and committee assignments are being formed now.
A professional development certificate series might be a helpful exploration of new knowledge. An advanced degree can be a good plan to formalize the learning steps. Choose an opportunity to learn more about your chosen field and integrate the learning with your practical experience.
September will arrive all too soon. Check out your next steps in learning and graduate to the next stage of opportunities.
