Investing in Yourself
In these financially challenging times we’re all looking for ways to trim our budgets. But cutting back on your health is a reduction no one can afford to make.
Like many Americans I have a long family history of medical ailments. I lost both parents in recent years to deteriorated health conditions. I feel lucky to be in my forties and healthy, but I know the odds aren’t in my favor. I need to act now to prevent issues before they begin.
Like most women, I’ve tried diets and fads to no avail. This time I decided to do something radically different. It wasn’t just about weight loss. It was about making physical, mental, and emotional life changes.
When my father left me a small inheritance I wanted to use in a positive way. My decision to spend the money to hire a personal trainer might have seemed selfish or extravagant to some, but I knew Dad would’ve been proud that I made a choice to help prevent the health conditions he and Mom had suffered.
So why hire a personal trainer? My trainer provides a holistic approach to health. As a nutritionist he helps me manage my diet; as a physical trainer he knows how to build balance, strength, and cardio health; and as an unbiased coach, he’s tough and supportive when I need it most. As for the cost, I pay an hourly rate, like you would to any expert. But unlike the services of a sole counselor, doctor, or nutritionist, my trainer is a one-stop-shop focused on my total success.
My experience has been life altering. Everyday I feel better which builds my momentum. I’ve learned I’m stronger than I thought, both physically and mentally. And I’m confident that an investment in me during any economy is an investment worth making.
