Around the globe or around the corner—it doesn't seem to matter. New places have a way of inspiring us. What do you consider the ideal destination?
Staycation
Have gas prices and the state of the economy put your summer vacation plans on hold this year? Consider going on a "staycation"—where you stay home but act as though you're on vacation.
Here a few fun things to do that are available in most cities.
> Check out your local parks and forests. Most offer camping, nature trails, or even bird watching tours.
> Stop by the rental shops. Bikes, canoes, paddleboats, in-line skates, and many other great activities are probably more accessible than you think.
> Stay at a local hotel. Get up early and explore your hometown as though you're visiting for the first time. Check out the lobby area for brochures on local attractions and special deals.
